Luke Goodrum
producer
I joined the industry at the tender age of 16, and in the two decades since, I’ve gained a wealth of varied experience. Most recently spending the last 12 months as Merman’s Head of Production.
It all began with me marching around Soho, returning unwanted cans of negs and digi betas on behalf of Work, The Mill, and Glassworks.
I quickly realized that being on set was where I truly wanted to be. So, I spent my early years bouncing between freelance running, PA’ing, PM’ing, dabbling in the camera department, and briefly pretending to be a DIT when the digital wave hit.
During this time, I also made some lo-fi short films and music promos, either directing or shooting them myself.
My “sliding doors” moment came when I joined Academy. I had the privilege of PM’ing a series of jobs for Frederic Planchon and Seb Edwards. That formative period instilled in me the high creative standards I’ve strived to maintain ever since.
I swiftly moved into producing commercials at Academy, under the invaluable guidance of Lizie Gower and Simon Cooper. I produced for talents like Nabil, Novemba, Bison, and Danny Sangra. During this time I rarely shaved and wore glasses I didn’t actually need—Lizie’s suggestion—to avoid being mistaken for a runner on set.
In 2015, I took the leap into freelancing and continued to produce for some of the industry’s top production companies and directors, including a few stints back at Academy.
I pride myself on working with passion and dedication, bringing creativity and a calm, positive atmosphere to every production I’m part of.
