Troy Tyler

Hi, my name is Troy Tyler, I’m a multidisciplinary filmmaker performing various roles within “The Industry” (do people still call it “The Industry”?).

I wear a lot of hats on and off set—seriously, my closet is overflowing. My roles include: director’s assistant, treatment design, research, BTS and editing—although I’ve also been seen dabbling in animation, but please don’t tell Production that. In all honesty though, I would say that my favourite hat is my Twin Peaks Sheriff Department one.

I’m originally from Cape Town, which means I’ll say yes to any braai or rugby invite, but please, just don’t call it a barbecue. It hurts.

I also lived and worked in the Berlin film industry for like almost a year, or it could have been six months, but I lost track because I moved like twenty times—Berliners will find that joke funny.

After perfecting my movie and moving skills in Berlin I moved to London, which I’ve been calling home for the past two years, or it could be a year and a half, but that’s showbiz baby! (finger guns).

Anyway, I secretly wish I was a cowboy, but when I’m not doing that you can find me drafting up a screenplay, watching films and calling it “research” or bouldering.
