Lorraine Kinman

Lorraine’s natural flair for costume design started at an early age.

The arts, in one form or another, were always part of her family life.  Her mother was a seamstress and her father a jazz musician and singer who involved her in preparing his stage wear and creating artwork for his upcoming performances.

After attending St Martins School of Art she gained a degree in fashion and textiles and went to work with Vivienne Westwood / Malcom McClaren, Boy and Carlo Manzi during which time Lorraine met John Roberts, a budding film director and consequently her film career was launched.

After many years in the industry, the highly regarded director Kevin Thomas describes her as “one of the most creatively gifted people I have met. She has a great eye, great imagination, great attitude and great work ethic.”

Lorraine’s ethos has always been to be inquisitive and absorb everything she sees and does.  With her in-depth knowledge and experience of costume history, costume designing, making and breakdown, she is happy working on budgets large and small and across all mediums; films,  TV,  TVCs and stills where she contributes to the project, as a whole liaising with all departments to get that great end result.
